Cricket U19 - Mahanama vs Nalanda

Match Summary - 1st Innings win to Mahanama (Feb 2011)

Mahanama College scored a first innigs win over Nalanada College in a match highlighted by a strong all round performance by Chatura Wanniarachchi for Mahanama who took a match bag of 7 wickets and scored valuable half century in their 1st innings.

Nalanda 1st Innings: 203 in 66 (Sineth Gunawardena 77, Chathura Wanniarachchi 3/54)

Mahanama 1st Innings: 223 in 63  (Hashan Perera 47, Chathura Wanniarachchi 77, Dasun Tharindra 4/49)

Nalanda 2nd Innings: 187 in 51 (Prashan Wickramasinghe 51, Chathura Wanniarachchi 4/45, Duleeka Thissakuttige 2/ 14)

Mahanama 2nd Innings: 38 for no loss in 4 overs (Dilusha Perera 21 n/o, Duleeka Thissakuttige 14 n/o)

Mahanama College Holds Media Day on the Theme '4TH DIMENSION'

October 21, 2010: The Media Day of the Mahanama College was held yesterday under the patronage of the Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne.

The media day, held under the theme '4th Dimension', was organized by the Media Circle of the Mahanama College and the Old Mahanama Media Circle.

A group including Prime Minister D. M. Jayarathne and Minister of Youth Affairs Dullas Alahapperuma attended the event.

Three awards titled "Golden Mahanamian" were presented to old Mahanamians who excelled in the media industry.

This year the recipients included the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Anusha Pelpita, veteran journalist and former Editor of the Silumina Sujeewa Dissanayake and veteran dance artiste Chandana Wickremasinghe.

Other Mahanamians who had contributed to the media industry were also felicitated at the occasion.

The award for the best media personality was presented to the Channel Head of Sirasa TV Susara Dinal while the media excellence gold award was presented to the Director General Manager of Newsfirst, Yasarath Kamalsiri.

         

Sri Lanka cadet delegation visit India

Sri Lankan Cadet Delegation including a Senior Officer, Two Staff Officers and 12 x girl & boy cadets will visit India on 15th January to participate in Indian National Cadet Corps Camp  2011.

Each Year cadets participate in the Indian Republic Day Celebration Camp under the Youth Exchange Programme between SAARC Countries and this tour is made possible by the Ministry of Defence. The delegation will stay in India for a period of 15 days from 15 January to 29 January 2011.

Lt. Col. Dayananda De Silva-Staff Officer  I (Administration) Headquarters National Cadet Corps leads this youth ambassadors to the India. Major WMSB Weerasekara, Captain PRAPK Herath (L), CSUO PBWS Malshani of R/Sumana Girls College, CSUO UKSPK Roland of G/Sangamitta Girls College, CSUO UVK Wickramasekara of G/Mahinda College, CSUO RMPL Madushanka of Hu/Wijayaba College, CJUO HAWWN Perera of Naththandiya Dammeessara MMV, CJUO DSJ Weerakoon of Ma/Sujatha College, CJUO LMNH Lansakara of KU/Maliyaderva College, Sgt. Saman Manike PDG of G/Rathnawali BV, Sgt. Gunasekara BLHK of St. Joseph BV, Sgt. Asela WS of Mahanama College, Colombo, Sgt. Aluwihare WMRUTA of K/Vidyartha College, Sgt. Pradeep HHC of Mallattawala MMV are other members of the delegation.

Under the supervision of Major General Gamini Jayasundara RWP RSP - Director National Cadet Corps, the tour party will participate in Leadership Courses, Adventure Courses, Cadet Activities and Cultural Programmes organized by Indian National Cadet Corps.


The cadets are also expected to meet President of India, Director of Indian NCC, Chief of Staff and Military Commanders of India in this tour.

Cricket U19 - Mahanama vs Trinity

Match Summary - Trinity win by 5 wickets (Jan 2011)

Trinity overcame a fighting century by Mahanama's Hashan Perera who hit 7 fours and 2 sixes to win by 5 wickets in match played at Asgiriya. After bowling out Mahanama for just 103 in their 1st innings, Trinity were in trouble at 117 for the loss of 8 wickets at close of play on day 1. Akila Jayasundara and Alwin Fernando however helped Trinity recover by putting on a 9th wicket stand of 61 runs. Mahanama fared a little better through Hashan Perera's century but Trinity still managed to restrict Mahanama to 169 runs in their 2nd innigs.  The target of 72 runs was chased down quite comfortably for the loss of 5 wickets by Trinity.

Mahanama 1st Innings: 103 in 48 overs (Janaka Madusanka 30, Chathura Wanniarachchi 20, Aamil Anas 4/32, Akila Jayasundara 3/17)

Trinity 2nd Innings: 73 for 5 in 10 overs to win the match (Heshan Wanniarachchi 18, Akila Jayasundara 26, Janaka Madusanka 3 for 32)

Cricket U19 2013 - Mahanama vs Sri Sumangala

Mahanama on a first innings win. Panadura, 26-27 February

Pavan Devinda top scored with 83 runs as Mahanama posted a healthy 203 for the loss of 4 wickets in their second innings in a match against Sri Sumangala College at Panadura. Pavan who was coming off a magnficient double century against Dharmapala earlier in the year became the first batman to score over 1000 runs this season and is now the leading batsman of the tournament.

Sri Sumangala fell short of Mahanama's first innings total with Dinuka Karunananda capturing 6 wickets. Kalindu Lakshan and Naveen Silva both scored half centuries in Mahanama's first and second innings respectively while Gihan Sanjeewa fell two runs short of a half century in the first innings.

Mahanama 1st Innings: 239 all out 66 overs (Kalindu Lakshan 63, Gihan Sanjeewa 48, Tharanga Madusanka 29, Nayana Prabath 30; Tharuka Nadeeshan 3/49, Sevinda Thulakshana 4/53)

Sri Sumangala 1st Innings: 221 all out in 64 overs (Sudesh Fernando 38,Tharuka Nadeeshan 45, Vishwa Yasas 37, Chamara Silva 3/46, Dinuka Karunananda 6/83).

Mahanama 2nd Innings: 203/4 in 50 overs (Pavan Devinda 83, Naveen Silva 52 n/o, Tharanga Madusanka 26 n/o)
